Field Operations Tech II - Inspections - Water System

This is a full-time position with benefits. This position is responsible for participating in the installation, maintenance and repair of the water distribution system and reservoir infrastructure, locating underground water lines, providing service to customers in the field, participating in meter reading operations and inspection of water infrastructure.  This position will respond to after-hours emergencies on a rotating schedule.  
 
Major duties include but are not limited to:
Field Inspection Operations 
• Incumbent serves as a senior member of field inspection operations.
• Ensures compliance with the Water System’s Developmental Standards.
• Reviews construction plans.
• Inspects new and existing water main and service construction.
• Meets with contractors and developers throughout the construction process.
• Coordinates planned interruptions of water service for construction projects.
• Inspects reservoirs, dams and other related structures.
• Maintains dams; prepares dams for annual state inspections; repairs pipes; cut trees and underbrush; checks gates, locks and fences, paints of graffiti, picks up garbage.
• Record distribution system infrastructure on digital maps.
• Maintains inventory of tools, parts, and equipment.
• Performs other related duties as assigned. 
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position.
• Possession of an appropriate state-certified water distribution operator’s certification.
• Completion of approved Water Utility Inspector training.
• Proficient forklift operator. 
• Possession of valid Class B commercial driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain GSWCC Level 1A Fundamentals certification - Blue Card.

Starting Salary - $47,974.04
