Park Technician

Job Title: Park Technician

Reports to: Assistant Director of Parks

Hours: Monday-Friday 40 hours per week. 

Location: Fayetteville, GA

Travel: 60% local travel, 40% regional travel. Park Crew utilizes company vehicle.

Supervisory Responsibilities: NA, Position may be responsible for occasional volunteer management.

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in Conservation, Natural Resources, Parks & Recreation, Environmental Education, or related field.

Experience: Candidates with trail building, invasive plant removal, tree care, and basic carpentry experience preferred. 

Salary Range: $15-20 per hour


Position Summary: Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Parks this position will complete a variety of maintenance and development tasks, including but not limited to:

Park and Nature Area Development

  • Natural tread trail construction.

  • Footbridge, kiosk, bench construction.

  • Gravel parking lot and road installation.

  • Signage installation.

  • Forest stand thinning and invasive plant removal.

  • Other tasks as assigned.

Park and Nature Area Management

  • Monitor public nature area trails, structures, and signage.

  • Maintain landscaping by mowing and weed removal.

  • Monitor forest health.

  • Make necessary repairs to trails and structures in a timely manner.

  • Monitor and remediate any visible safety hazards.

  • Maintain tools and equipment.

  • Perform tasks dictated by restoration and/or forest management plans.

  • Ensure policies and procedures are followed by visitors.

  • Serve as a liaison between the Southern Conservation Trust and the public.

  • Grading and road repair.

  • Ensure cleanliness of facilities and grounds.

  • Other tasks as assigned.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work outside in variable weather conditions.

  • Ability to lift and carry tools over difficult terrain.
