Talent Attraction & Retention Recommendations

Since June, 2019, the Chamber has convened several Task Force committees to explore 3 specific areas of Talent Attraction & Retention. Our goal has been to discover ways to attract new residents and establish Fayette County as the premier community for suburban living. Doing so will promote economic development efforts by increasing the labor pool and proactively fighting against flattening growth projections. On November 15, the Chamber unveiled the following 10 recommendations at the 2019 Future Workforce Summit:

Housing & Development:

  • In the unincorporated portions of Fayette County, maintain the rural feel for those residents seeking that environment.
  • Revise zoning and development ordinances to allow for mixed-use developments on existing infrastructure in the municipalities.
  • Encourage housing developments that include options for entry-level buyers, empty-nesters with a desire to downsize, and renters-by-choice.
Arts, Culture, & Entertainment:
  • Develop a coordinated marketing plan to promote arts, entertainment, & cultural activities and events in Fayette County.
  • Develop an Audience Building strategy for the arts, culture, and entertainment assets in Fayette County.
  • Rebrand existing FayetteGeorgia.org website to CreateYourStory.org and update content.
Workforce Development Tactics:
  • Develop a permanent Clayton State University and Southern Crescent Technical College campus in Fayette County.
  • Create a county-wide marketing campaign targeting six specific demographics. 
  • Secure designation as a “Veteran Friendly Community” from Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Endorse tax free retirement for Veterans.
